A year in to his first role in PR, Nic was offered an exciting move to a large agency. Having accepted, and only weeks away from starting, the Coronavirus outbreak hit and the offer was sadly, but understandably, withdrawn. Like thousands of comms professionals in the UK, he found himself facing months locked up inside with nothing to do, a growing hole on his CV and a busy, bored brain.
His solution was Look After, an agency that brings people in the same boat together. A team of talented comms professionals, who have lost their jobs as a direct result of the pandemic, working as one to help businesses and charities with social impact at their core.
The mission statement of the initiative was simple.
To look after businesses and charities doing good, to look after those in our industry that have been affected by the outbreak and to look after the crisis by keeping busy, staying focused and giving something back.
We're a team of talented comms professionals, who have lost their jobs as a direct result of the Coronavirus pandemic and would rather put our skills to good use, than to sit idle. We range from juniors to founders of previous comms agencies and everything in between. We have multiple specialists across Consumer PR, Corporate PR, Strategy, Social Media, Graphic Designers, Web Designers Copywriters and lots of other areas - there are about 200 of us.
We donate our time and expertise to help raise the profile and finesse the strategy of businesses and charities involved in dealing with the Coronavirus crisis; so that they can better serve their communities and carry out their valuable work.
Nic Young, Founder.
Nic started his PR career at Frank., working on clients such as BAT, The Big Lunch and Burger King, helping to successfully bring the latter’s iconic Meltdown initiative to life. Prior to this, Nic worked with a prop tech start-up and this is where the entrepreneurial spirit that birthed Look After came from.
Felix Henderson, Co-founder.
Felix started his career as a journalist, before moving into brand consultancy where he worked with various global brands on commercial and brand strategy. He left to set up his own business in the prop-tech sector. He left in 2019 to a new role before joining Nic at Look After at the height of the Coronavirus outbreak.
Look After is a network of 200+ comms professionals spanning all walks of PR, strategy and design. We're juniors, seniors and everything in between; with wanting to keep busy and do good as our common thread.
